History of the Wedding Cake
Wedding cake plays important roll part of the Wedding ceremony.
Cutting the Wedding Cake is symbolically the first task that bride and groom perform jointly as husband and wife. The first piece of cake is cut by the bride with the "help" of the groom. This tradition dates back to the Roman Empire and continues today. After the cake cutting ceremony, the couple proceed to feed one other from the first slice. This is a symbolism of the mutual commitment between bride and groom to provide for one another.
Birth of a Original ' Diva ' Cake
I thought to give you a inside story about the beginning of our now famous and still popular ' Diva' Cake.

The birth of the ' Diva' happened back in year 2006, when I was asked to design a Birthday Cake for a previous South Africa President.
I was given a theme of the event; it had to be 8 tiers high and a Chocolate Cake. At that time I had no idea yet, but I wanted to create something unique and never done before.
I had a ball of Chocolate Paste in my hands and got started ... after 2 days of inspirational work I had a 8 tiers cake made of intertwined Chocolate Paste layers and thin laces of Chocolate Paste design ready.
Like all my cakes, it had to have a name and the obvious was the 'Diva' of all Chocolate Cakes.
Ever since, I have made hundreds of ' Diva's - from 8 tiers to miniature individual 'Diva's ; made from Chocolate Paste, White Chocolate Paste and Sugarpaste ( plastic Icing ). Overtime 'Diva's have traveled to Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
'Diva's design has also been attempted to copy, claimed and renamed by other people.
Yet 'Diva' remains one of 'Annica's' most popular Wedding cake designs , because of it's elegant and classical look, making it timeless design.
Now you know, if you ever wondered, heard or seen the 'Diva' and if you are looking for it, - you can see many variations of 'Diva' designs on our web page or you can have one for yourself !
